London
Cholera Outbreak: 1854
“The addition of the GIS module to the
PubWorks software suite is the most exciting
development we
have had to date. Our clients will enjoy an
easy-of-use and seamless integration simply
not available elsewhere. It really is the
icing on the cake.” Pete Anzalone,
Tracker Software President
According to
Wikipedia, GIS goes back as far as
Cro-Magnon cave dwelling drawings. They also
cite that in 1854, John Snow depicted a
cholera outbreak in London using points to
represent the locations of some individual
cases. His study led to the source of the
disease, a contaminated water pump within
the heart of the cholera outbreak.
Fast-forward to
the present day and GIS has become almost
commonplace but with all its high-tech and
ubiquity it’s still beyond the reach of most
Public Works agencies because it’s very
complex and very expensive.
PubWorks
is changing all of that. Our user-friendly,
comprehensive GIS Map Viewer gives you all
the power of ESRI’s ArcView, but packaged in
the familiar body of PubWorks.
